Pacman Nebula

Description

Bright emission nebula in the constellation Cassiopeia, with beautiful nebulous mountains rich in hydrogen gas. The strong blue center is representative of the regions in which Oxygen III is abundant but does not show what this nebula would look like to the human eye but instead has been processed according to artistic preference and the want to show where certain gases are found within the nebula.

The ones among you may have noticed the absolutely terrible stars in this image, which is due to bad telescope collimation. This is why I am including a starless image here to show off the beautiful nebula, without the horrid and distracting stars.

Note that this issue has been fixed, so hopefully, this won’t be present in future images.
