Andromeda Galaxy

Andromeda Galaxy
  • The stunning galaxy in the constellation Andromeda, hence the name, is a popular beginner target since it has a large angular size in our sky. This is in part due to its large size, and the fact that it is relatively close, astronomically speaking, to our own galaxy. This galaxy is also well known, since it is believed that it will collide with our Milky Way in a few billion years.

This is some old(ish) data (December 29th, 2020), and was my first official broadband target with the RedCat 51. I didn’t take great flat frames, so there were some frustrating artifacts that I cropped and clone stamped (fight me) out. This image contains very little integration time, so I really had to be careful when pulling out colours.
